Recently, the Associate Professor Luo Bin published the latest research results in the journal of Chemosphere “Has the mortality risk declined after the improvement of air quality in an ex-heavily polluted Chinese city-Lanzhou?”, the author of the paper is Associate Professor Luo Bin and the co- corresponding-author of the paper is Professor Niu Jingping. The first author is Liu Jiangtao, a master student.

The research team used the air pollution and death data of Lanzhou City from 2004 to 2009 and 2014 to 2017, to analyze and evaluate the changes of pollutant concentration and the impact on population death risk before and after air pollution control in Lanzhou City. The research results showed that in recent years, with the implementation of various air pollution control measures, the pollution of PM10 and sulfur dioxide in Lanzhou City has been significantly improved, but due to the influence of the number of motor vehicles and other factors, nitrogen dioxide pollution is still heavy. The results of the study finally indicated that the risk of death of PM10 in Lanzhou City has decreased significantly in recent years, but the risk of death of other pollutants in the population is still high, and further prevention and control is needed. The paper is great significance for the future air pollution control and population health promotion in Lanzhou. In recent years, Associate Professor Luo Bin has focused on the typical environmental and health issues in the northwest of China and published many important articles.
